Tutorial 3 - PS Actions.

Hello! Sorry for not updating this blog for soooooo long!
Alrighty, today's tutorial will be a very simple & cool one!

Always envied the perfect color hues to the photographs seen on websites & not knowing how to adjust the colors by yourself, here's the perfect solution, the Photoshop Actions.

1)

a. Open the picture you want with PS.
b. Note that the picture opened will be locked up as shown by the lock that's circled.

2) Fret not, just double click the blue part of the layer that is being highlighted.

a. A new window will be shown and just click OK.

3)

a. Now go to the magical website, deviantart.com & on your left hand side, Go to Application Resources >> PS Actions.
b. All the PS actions that are avaliable will be shown and you can start searching for the effect you want!
c. Today, I'll be using the Actions 019 as shown.

4)

a. As taught in the first tutorial, save the file and Viola, the effect you want is now saved.

5)

a. Now go back to your PS & at the History box, you'll be able to see the Actions tab as circled.

6)

a. Click on the small arrow that is circled to start loading the action.
b. Go to Load Actions.
c. A new window will pop up and located the file that we've just saved. Be sure to note that the file will be ___.atn.

7)

a. At the Actions tab, the new action file that you've just loaded will be shown and ticks will be seen.

8)

a. Now because we only want one of the effects that's in the package, we'll have to remove all the ticks first. Just click on the tick that's beside the main folder, usually named as the file that we've saved earlier on.
b. A new window will pop up as shown and jus click Ok.
c. All the ticks will be gone!

9)

a. We'll choose only the first action for now. Just click on the small box that's beside the row labelled as Colors 01.
b. The usual window seen in the previous step will pop up again and just click OK.
c. See, the Colors 01 is now being ticked and that means this action will be applied only. Be sure to note that Colors 01 should also be highlighted blue!
d. The most important step is to Ctrl+A to select the whole photo that you want the effect to be applied on, otherwise a new window will pop up saying that "No pixels are selected".
e. Now start the action by clicking on the "Play" button that's on the bottom of the Actions panel.
f. After a series of automated changes, your photo is now revamped with the effect you want!

10)

a. Now if you wanna try the other effect that's in the package, just click the tick that's beside Colors o1 & the old usual box will pop up.
b. Click OK & the tick will disappear.

c. Click on the box that's beside Colors 02 & the same old usual box will reappear & click OK.
d. The tick shown beside Colors 02 will appear! & make sure to highlight the Colors 02 box blue again.
e. Make sure to Ctrl+A again to select the whole picture!
f. Just click "Play' button & everything else will be the same as the previous steps.

Tutorial 2 - Overlay properties

Hello Lovelies! In this tutorial, I'll be teaching you how to create this,

The main thing for this tutorial will be yellow yellow thing at the background.

1) Create a new canvas with a black background because this effect will be best seen against a dark background.

2) Create another new layer.

a) Go Layer>New..>Layer.. to create another new layer.

b) A new window will pop out and just click OK

c) You should notice on the Layer box that's usally on your right hand side, a new layer with the checkered box will appear, showing that it's transparent.

d) Now rename your new layer by clicking on the "Layer 2" name itself. You should see that the "Layer 2" will be highlighted and rename it as the White Brush because we're gonna use a white brush on this layer.

It'll be good to rename your new layer so that it won't be that confusing if there are going to be a lot of other new layers coming up later.

3) Now, choose a brush and do it in white color onto this White Brush layer.

Make sure the "White Brush" layer is being highlighted when you create your brush

4) Now, create another new layer again by repeating step 2.

a)You should notice on the Layer box that's usally on your right hand side, a new layer with the checkered box will appear, showing that it's transparent.

b) Rename it again with Overlay.

5) Change the properties of this new layer you've created in step 4.

a) Click on the blue portion of the "Overlay" layer.

b) A "Layer Style" will pop up and under the "Blending Options", change the "Blend Mode" to "Overlay" and click OK.

6) And start brush-ing!

a) From the brush tool, choose the most basic circle brush tool that'll always be at the top. Choose any of it.

b) Choose the desired color you want from the box below as taught it tutorial 1.

c) Brush onto the brush that you've added in the "White Brush" layer. You should be able to see the colors appearing on the white brush itself!

Try out different colours on one brush and choose colors that are more bright to achieve the best effect.

7) Add in the text now.

This will be the same as taught in Tut 1 where you'll add the Stroke in for the text.

The text used here is Bleeding Cowboys which be avaliable at dafont.com.

Finally, you can start to crop the image to your desired size and you're done!

Tutorial 1 - Basic PS Brushes and Fonts

Hello! Today I'm starting off this new small mini tutorial on creating images. Well, it's super easy to create once you know the basic stuffs. This's my first time doing such stuff, so please give me some comments if there's anything to improve on!

I'm teaching you guys on how to do the brushes and add in text for this:

Right click and view the pictures in a new window so that you can refer to the pictures and the tutorial at the same time!

1) Grab your hands on a Photoshop (PS) CS3 firstly! I'm using this version currently.

2) Proceed to www.deviantart.com. They have a lot a lot a lot of lovely brushes for really almost anything that you want.

Click on the "Resources & Stock Images" at the left hand side of the window to sieve out all results that are related to the PS brushes because all the results they give to you are mixed with other stuffs that are unnecessary.

3) The side bar will bring you to this image,

Click on the "Application Resources".

4) The sidebar changes again to this,

Click on the "PS Brushes".

5) Now you can start searching for results that will be related to PS brushes.

a) Do a final check that the "PS brushes" is being highlighted.

b) Do the search for "pin up" to get the brush that's in the image we are referring to.

c) After the results are up, click on the 3rd set. If you prefer any other pin up brushes, feel free to do so!

6) It will bring you to this window,

Click on the "Download" button at the left hand side.

7) A pop up window will appear and just save the file onto your desktop. Please make sure that the file you're saving is in the correct .abr format.

8) Now, you can start to load your PS.

a) Create a new file by proceeding to File>New..

b) A new pop up window appears and check that the options are correct as shown in the image.
Don't worry if the width and height are much larger than this because we can crop it later on, but make sure you don't make it smaller than this.

9) Now if the new canvas shows a white background, ignore the following step.

If the new canvas show small black and grey background, it means that it's transparent which will be senseless you can't see anything that you're going to create later on.

a) Select the Bucket tool at left hand sidebar.

b) Ensure that the tool is being highlighted.

c) Proceed to the 2 boxes that are further down the side bar to change the color.

d) A new pop up window will appear to allo you to select your color.

e) You can drag the vertical portion to select your color or the #_____ to key in the html code of the color. The html color code will be avaliable on any websites if you Google "html code".

f) If you're using the vertical portion, drag the circle thing in the larger square box around to choose the other shades of the color you want. But since we're coloring it white, just drag it to the top left hand side of the box and you'll get pure white!

10) Then jus click onto the transparent box and fill it with white.

11) Now it's brush-ing time!

a) Go to the "Brush" tool that's 8th icon. If the brush icon is not as shown in the image above,
click on it for a few seconds and a small sidebar will pop out and choose the Brush tool.

b) The brush tool should be highlighted and the top bar will show the tools.

c) Click on the small arrow that's circled and a window will pop below it.

d) Click on the the arrow circled and a new window will pop up beside it.

e) Select the "Load Brushes.." and a new window pops up again and select the brush that you've saved earlier onto ur desktop.

12)

All windows will disappear and scroll down to check out the brushes you've loaded. Select the one circled. Hover your cursor over the canvas to check out the size of the brush. If you waanna adjust it, change it at the "Master Diameter" and hover to the canvas to check out again.
If the size's correct, jus click it onto the canvas and the brush will appear!

If you clicked onto the canvas but nothing came out, it's because of the white we've chosen earlier on to fill in the canvas. Change the color again by clicking on the box that's on the above. Then everything will be same as earlier on while filling in the background color.

13) Now, it's time to download new fonts! Proceed to www.dafont.com. They have so so so many nice fonts that are for free!

The fonts that we're using is "Showtime", so just do a quick search for showtime and the result will appear just as above. Proceed to the right hand box and click on the "PC" to save the file onto ur desktop. Just save it onto ur desktop.

It's my secret lover, Torres in the background! Handsome plus hot right?!

Always rmb to unzip the file that you've downloaded or else you'll never be able to search for it when loading brushes or new text files.
We want the .ttf file for installing only and drag it to your desktop.

a) Proceed to Control Panel>Appearance and Personalization>Fonts
*I'm not sure what will it be for Windows XP, just check out the Fonts folder which will be somewhr at Control Panel there.

b)A new window will pop up showing all the fonts that are avaliable in your computer.
Right click and go the the "Install New Font.."

c)Another new window will pop out showing the Showtime font that we've just dragged onto ur desktop. If you fail to unzip the file earlier on, it'll not appear here. Then install it.

d) The window will disappear meaning that the new font is installed.

15) Now, we can returrn to our PS and start inserting new text.

Proceed to the "Text" tool. If it's not shown as above, drag click it and select the correct tool. The tools for the Text will be at the top and select the correct font, "Showtime"
Everything be same as creating text during creating Powepoint slides.

16)

a) To create the yellow glowing thing, check out the small box that'll be at the bottom right hand side and choose the correct one that's boxed up in red and double click on the blue portion only, not any other places to edit the Layer style.

b) A new window pops up and select on the "Stroke" at the left hand side bar.
Click on the box that's beside "Color" to change the color of the stroke that'll be surrounding you text. You'll be able to preview the stroke at the same time after you clicked onto the "Stroke" options at the background.

c) Change the color accordingly as show in the picture. The preview will be at the background!

17) If you wanna move the text around, click on the layers box again shown in the image below that will usually be at the bottom right hand side.

a) Now, you'll double click on the small box with the "T" in it, not the blue portion anymore to edit the text itself.

b) The text will be highlighted means that you can start to edit the text again.

c) Hover ur cursor around the text box and check out the sign that I've drawn and you can start moving the text.
*Apparently, when you do Print Screen, the cursor will disappear itself! That's why I have to draw it out.

d) Click on the tick sign at the top to save the changes.

18) Now the image will have too much space at the sides right? So we'll have to crop it. That's why don't worry if the canvas's too big at the start.

Go to to the crop tool that's the 4th one at the left hand side bar and drag the area that you want only.

19) The area that you've selected will appear white, while the unwanted one will be shaded.

Click the "Crop" tool again, and a new window will pop up as shown. Click on the "crop" option and the image will be cropped!

Last tip, if you've done something you don't want, then just go to the History box that will usually be at the bottom right hand side and just click at the previous step to go back!
